“What are your plans for today,” the Great Geezer asked me naively.
He didn’t really want to know. “Clean the
BBQ, start cleaning out the garage, and dinner with Dr. Jim at 1630
after the museum.”
“What time is the WW Saturday morning meeting,” I asked
later…and that’s how we began the day.
Then instead of half an hour of lecture, we were off to
clean the BBQ for the last time. We
asked several times at the meeting last night if there was someone who would
take on the commitment. We had taken
back the BBQ from a gentleman who abandoned it, and we had had it a year
now. Several folks asked questions, and
no one leapt forward to take the job. We
will not store it either. Enough.
Fresh bread smells now wash away the taste of Easy-Off Oven
Cleaner. The new, young, car wash owners
are glad to see the back of us. They
wanted cars not BBQ’s in their washing bays. We smiled and didn’t point out that we spent
twice as much money.
The sun is coming out.
San Diego is the primo destination of vacationers this Labor Day AAA tells
us. We could have told them that easily.
We will enjoy the city ourselves. Perhaps we will stop by the festival of sail
after we bake a cake.
I feel the same way about tourists here, but they give the economy a big boost. August is quiet because all the pols and their staffs are out of town as are most government employees. Wonderful. Looking forward to voisiting SD myself, later.
ReplyDeleteLOL it's nearly time for our BBQ to have its annual 'clean before use' day!
ReplyDeleteLooked Ben up and he's in our local library - need a new author to read so will order a copy when we get home in Oct. Too involved now (need to order in - may not arrive before we go etc etc) so something to look forward to.

I haven't gotten those spams yet, except for a couple of minor ones. I guess I'll be looking forward to that! Glad your BBQ is cleaned...I would never have thought of the car wash.
ReplyDeleteSorry about your spam. We get tourists too, here they close off whole blocks for "wine" events for them. I'm not in the spirit of the thing and I'm glad when they go home. They do add jobs but they are mostly minimum wage jobs, and our housing inventory has shrunk from investors buying all the spares, especially smaller more affordable ones for vacation tourists. I am a curmudgeon.
ReplyDeleteAnd a good day it was!
ReplyDeleteYes, we have had projects passed around at our meetings. I am wondering how long my husband is going to be in charge of his before the demands wear thin.
ReplyDeleteI just wrote a post about changing my settings so I don't get any spam. I don't know if people would want to take away the Google web crawlers though. The post is scheduled for a couple of weeks later though.
ReplyDeleteOne of Art's least favorite jobs is cleaning the barbecue grill.
Never thought of cleaning a bbq in a car wash. Mind you, I'm not sure how one without a truck would get it there. Wouldn't you bbq all year down there?
