…or Veterans Day: The eleventh
month, the eleventh day, the eleventh hour.
Fort Rosecrans, up on top
of the Point where many will leave prayers for family members today. My father is in Chula Vista. He served in the Army. Up on the side of the Point lie George's dad,
he served in the Army Air Corps. There’s
my dear friend Dale. He too was in the
Army but in a different war as was Bobbies husband, Mikey.
The old Fort is a focus
for those family members and friends who lie elsewhere. Don and his friend Gene. Paul…who served in Korea…the forgotten war.
Who will you remember today.
Quiet, wet day here. Parade downtown at 10am. Grandson sang in school concert yesterday. One was the Air Force song, which was about the Army Air Force when I was his age :-). No more caissons rolling along either. They were good as well as enthusiastic.
ReplyDeleteHope your day is good. Got Lady Bird and Lyndon on hold at the library.
Grumpy was visiting friends.
ReplyDeleteI looked at the Lady Bird book, but ended up buying a book about Hemingway. Go figure...
ReplyDeleteMainly my uncles who covered both wars.
ReplyDeleteWhen you mentioned Laybird I thought of children's books but now realise what you meant:)
