Driving View

…which is similar to Driving Miss Daisy.

View South from the top of Kate Sessions park over Mission Bay to Point Loma.

Many years ago, I made a decision to stop driving because I couldn’t afford to maintain my car.  Besides, you wouldn’t have wanted me driving anyway.  Later, I stopped again this time because I didn’t have a car.  Multiple vision stopped my night driving over a decade ago.

Driving up to the Democratic Headquarters in Kearny Mesa, I noticed that the sun’s glare on the windshield gave me a greyed view of the road.  This Friday, I noticed that even with a washed windshield, my world remained greyed out.  Driving with that view of the world worried me.  Not ok stuff.

I have an eye doctor appointment coming up, until then he has given approval for me to drive a mile to work.

View North on Point Loma with the Pacific Ocean to the left and the San Diego Bay to the right.

Last week, Jacaranda trees in bloom just down the hill from our house.

  • Himself:  He’s helping a friend take the back seats out of her SUV.  Bank next, breakfast, and the museum before dinner.
  • Herself:  Got to window shop a bit last night.  Replaced one shirt that had a spot I couldn’t get out.  Today follow G around and bring a book.
  • Reading:  Daniel Silva’s 2015 book.
  • Gratitudes:  That I am feeling so good physically.

    1. Good luck with your eye exam. I take David Monday for his eye exam becuse you can't drive with dilated pupils. He's still driving his old wreck, however, he's much more wary since the last near miss, or so he informs me.

Re FB yes, I will miss some kid photos, however, they know how to find me. So do my friends.

FB is far too nosy, tracking me everywhere and adding items to my personal calendar. Too much.

To top it off, I spend too much time on FB and get into too many political arguments with kids and right-wing friends. The result, daily migraine headaches and numbness in my hands. My daughters solution was to unfriend all her Liberal friends except me....she says. Perhaps I will return after the election, perhaps not. Trump is bad for my HBP.

BTW....beautiful photos. I look for these places when fly into SD.

    3. The photos are spectacular, especially the trees.

Sending good thoughts your way for your eye exam. Take care.

    4. I hope it's just Grumpy's windshield rather than your eyes that are the cause of the grayed out view. We replaced the windshield in the Honda a couple of months ago. Wonderful stuff, clear glass! I now have macular degeneration in my left eye. Old age sucks. Hugs to you and G.

    5. My sympathies. My vision changes include loss of contrast. at least that is what eyedoc said when I described no longer being able to read signs that are backlit or even hit by sun from the side. Enjoyed those photos.

    6. I do love those trees. Too bad the bloom only lasts a month.

    7. I saw the Jacaranda in San Miguel, and we have a few of them here, too. They are the most beautiful of blossoming trees, I think. That delicate violet is so rare.

    8. I first saw a jacaranda when we retired and had a holiday in Portugal and thought it was the most beautiful tree I had ever seen. There is something magical about blue blossom.
