SUMMER SOLSTICE

…or we are off to the fair.

We are heading to the Fair this Sunday.  I flat out love the Fair.  I love all the fuss, the sunshine, the massive color assault, even the noise, the critters, the homemaking things, the jewelry, the furniture, and all the other stuff. 

The fair is a make or break world for the 4H kids, a concern for the folks who enter things like knitting, woodcrafts, or jams, and a joy to those of us who attend.  I always mean to enter a place setting using my Russel Wright or Southern Potteries, but I always forget.

We both are entertained by the three huge sales tents and the barkers.  Yes, he buys his car wax from the Wax Man.  Yes, I used to always stop in to see the Indian jewelry family, but they don’t come any more.  Yes, I miss them.
           

He’s the man who lights his waxed car hood on fire for you.

Tho I can’t walk far these days, I get into an amazing number of corners.  (More tomorrow.)

  • Himself:  Gym, pool. At work cursing his computer.
  • Herself:  Washing everything, cleaning with peroxide, bandaging me, and off to shelve and price Christmas books for a Christmas in July sale at work.
  • Reading:  Just finished a garbage romance/mystery that will be returned to the store.
  • Gratitude’s:  124 degrees C in Arizona.  72 C here at the beach.  I am so grateful to live here.

      The fairs come to our part of the world in the fall.......I'm not a big fan of the noise and dirt....but I like the displays and competitions.

      The Arizona heat makes me shut up about our weather but it was 100 one day last week. Up and down, no gradual getting used to it yet. I enjoy our fair too. Here the fair comes after school starts and for three days there's very few kids in school while they practically they in the barns with their critters. We did when my grands were showing dairy heifers. I kind of miss it.

      Incredible heat in Vegas. It has intense heat anyway. I hope it stays cooler where you are, Mage.

        It was 74 yesterday and will be 72 today. Lots of fog.

      I do love the animals at the fairs best. Also fun to see just what can be fried these days and sold.

      Around here, fairs like this are pretty much reserved for early fall.
