“We will be there for
breakfast,” Bobbie said when she called the night before.
Nope, they overslept. We went out for a senior omelette with a
blueberry muffin. They arrived for a
short visit just after we got home. She
liked her quilt top and said it was my best work ever. Perhaps she was swayed by the many yards of
purple.
After they left, G baked
his biscuits and learned that 8 minutes was just right for his tiny
creations. I whipped cream, called the
kids, and put my favorite mumu on. The
temperature was to be beyond hot inland.
Yes, we took the air conditioned car.
We were family, inner circle, and Pam’s roommate, an exchange student from
Japan who had never had a Thanksgiving meal before. The
food was really good, the turkey was moist, and desert pushed me over the
top. It was a happy bunch until Poolie
fell. She couldn’t get up again.
As the firemen and paramedics got her into the ambulance, we headed
home. A little game time on the
computer. A nap for me. Texts and phone call updates about
Poolie. And later on, a slice of toast
for dinner with a Harry Potter movie.
Holding hands while being taken away to a magic land…that was a perfect
ending to our day.

It was a good day until Poolie fell. Nothing broken, just drama.
ReplyDeletePoor Poolie.......I hope she recovers quickly.
ReplyDeleteWith the exception of the fall, it sounds and looks perfect. Glad Poolie was OK.
ReplyDeleteRelieved Poolie's fall turned out as well as it did. It looks like a great Thanksgiving aside from that. Hope you didn't work yourself too hard.
ReplyDeleteLooks like everyone had a great Thanksgiving dinner together. Nice... Which Harry Potter movie did you watch? I love Harry Potter! Still going through things and shedding stuff...
ReplyDeleteSo glad Poolie's fall wasn't too serious. She was looking good.
ReplyDeleteSmiling that the ending to your day sounds so perfect to me.
