It’s that time of year
again. All those truly wonderful
fattening foods are here: Turkey, stuffing, pie, whipped cream. My mouth is watering right now. Shortly we are off to Vons/Safeway to buy
butter and other foods. George wants to
serve Red Lobster Biscuits at Thanksgiving dinner. I suggested he try a batch first. I can do pie and whipped cream without trying
it first.
As a Thanksgiving
offering, I share with you this photo of me looking out the back window of the
cottage. Frankie, my old neighbor, and
I, have put together a traditional Thanksgiving meal for family and
friends. The cottage would seat about
five. Total. The back yard could seat fifty or so, and
that’s where we had it.
Here I am with a glass of
Rose’ in my hand. I don’t look too bad,
but in three years I would be near death from my Alcoholism. All these years later, I can tell you that
getting well is certainly worth every bit of the struggle.

Congratulations on overcoming your health issues and a very happy Thanksgiving to you.. Dig into that pie girl...you deserve it.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you kicked the rose' to the curb. Me too.
ReplyDeleteHow very nice to know. Hugs at ya.
DeleteGood for you Mage! Us too, very few in my family, self included, could drink without grief.
ReplyDeletethis was before my time on scene
ReplyDeleteI am so happy for you, Mage.
ReplyDeleteThat certainly looks like an inviting picture. Glad you rallied from your problems back then.
ReplyDeleteI too am glad you got well and were able to carry on. Hope you can do that for many years to come.
ReplyDeleteLove the picture, and how nice you had a backyard capable of holding a bigger crowd.
ReplyDeleteBlessings~
By the style of the photo I'd guess you've put together a nice stretch of sobriety one day at a time.
