LIKE NINE PINS

Sunburst Quilt, unknown maker, 1850’s cotton, at the Mingei.

George gave me a full body massage for Christmas.  Dear Man.  I went to the pool for a bit first then got a wonderful rub down to start the year.  I can’t tell you how grand a way to start a year this is.

Frankly, I’ve been hovering.  Assorted aches and pains of my own encouraged me to do nothing at all.  I read, and I worried.  I rarely, if ever, have worried about George.  This time, he’s had an awful time of it and slept many hours every day.

He’s sitting up at work now without additives, and after the massage I could let my brain loose at last.  Margot is doing well at work, and Zoe is doing remarkably well at school too.  Just for this moment, life is in order.  Not in control mind you…but lined up like 9 pins.

  6. My life is also on the smoothest of hill rides right now and I am so thankful and almost believe I can breathe for a while again. Our biggest family issue is paused and it makes me have lots of hope So glad your husband is back in good health!!

  9. Sometimes all the pins lined up is an illusion. The tooth is next.

  10. Ah---a massage. What a thoughtful gift. Is there a better cure for what ails us? When I get ready to croak, don't call a priest, call a masseuse. That should be my last sensation:))
