GIRAFFING

I’m almost ready to start quilting again.  There’s only a small pile of unread magazines left to read…left over from my long hospitalization.  I plead sickness, or giraffness…before someone realizes that I am awake and in here.  Giraffness?  This is stubborn and easily distracted.

Yesterday we Registered Grumpy at AAA along with getting Passport photos.  Then it was off to see Margaret who put a rinse on my hair, medium blond which looks brown, and it washes out slowly not leaving a white area where it has grown out.  I was so appalled at the more than generous amount of white hair and thousands of wrinkles when I looked in the mirror that I thought I had to do something.  I’ve always been the friend who recommends letting the hair go back to natural.  Now I feel a bit like hiding my head in shame.

  • Gratitude’s:  That I am slowly morphing back to normal.

Tension

Lemonade, San Diego County Fair, 2009.

Himself: Applying for jobs online and when trying to keep track of which jobs on which sites by printing, he found that the latest Microsoft Update wiped out his printer drivers. Grrrrrrrr…..

Herself: I’m not behaving ok. Less overdone painting; more overdone dinner. Perhaps I am just overdone this day.

Reading: Finished the 2009 Dresden. Finished the Dresden series.

Food: Had to go back to the grocery store. The pre-mixed lettuce we bought at Costco was bad. We spent an additional $6.91 on things like lettuce, cabbage, potatoes....and they were good.

It was one of those days.

I was pretty good until I came home to find Marie on the phone in tears. Someone had broken in and stolen both her computers. They didn’t get any money or her jewelry…..just the computers, checks, and small electronics…and two of her pillowcases to put the loot in. It appears she might have interrupted the robbery. Everyone rallied around, but best of all her sponsor bought her a new laptop.

I take it out on the poor sewing machine. I don’t thread it right and have scalloped threads on the back of the red quilt. I thread it right and the tension is off and have just as many scallops on the quilt back. I grind my teeth and act like I am ten years old. When I go downstairs to read quietly, the tension in my jaw leaves me feeling as if I am a piece of twisted rebar.

Poor G has spent over eight hours applying for jobs, replacing my tiny HD with a new one, and struggling with Snapfish which won’t upload the uploader in any Firefox and will only in Internet Exploder….which I hate. Now he has to put up with me ranting away in the same room.

He eats nuts. I eat out of his can despite the fact that I ate too many nuts at art class today. And chocolate. Enough. Let’s triumph and swim, take the machine in and find out if it is me or it, and start all over again. Enough is enough.
