Independence

It’s a week filled with appointments, dates, and funerals.  Until Friday when we will celebrate Michael’s life, I have a staff meeting, a Lymphedema Clinic Meeting, and one day of work plus the pool and walking.

What I really want to do is sit crosslegged.  The new hip will only go straight up and down.  One of my quiet little goals is to teach it to stretch sideways.  Every night I stretch it out in ways I didn’t discuss with the PT person.  Very Gently as it is very resistant.

Very gently I went looking for a hat….black straw perhaps or screaming lime green, to wear on Friday. None at JC Penney’s.  Hat’s are out there.  I ran out of walking steam at that point and didn’t go looking for more.  Getting my hair cut required only sitting.  I could do that easily.  The other errands were just brief forays out of the car.

I couldn’t do this two weeks ago.  It’s so nice to have my independence back.

Life is Really in the Footnotes:
He’s also begun a blog here on Blogger.  He’s taken Friday off for Michael, plus it’s the last BBQ for the Meeting by the Bay.  He brings the meat and cheese.  I’ll have the tomatoes, lettuce, and onions in the cooler too, and he will take them to the funeral and celebration.  Cooler works well.
  • Herself:  Margot and Zoe will be driving out to Arizona with Timothy Saturday, and coming home on Sunday after Paul’s funeral in time for Zoe’s school Monday.  I’m not attending Martha’s gathering, but will go to Arlene’s when the date is set.  I’ll do it for Bobbie….
  • Reading:  I joined the Yahoo DES group, and I am working my way through the D. E. Stevenson’s I own.  I cannot find the one they are currently reading.  It must have been destroyed by mold.  I used to own it.  Did skim the Shirley McLain on “The Camino.”  I had wanted to read about the road not her hallucinations on the road.  Ah, well.

  • Balance:  The silence this house now offers in the early morning hours.

    1. What about a second-hand store for a hat? So happy for you that you are able to be independent again!

    4. We used to say that, if you couldn't find a good hat anywhere else, you should go to the vendors where the church ladies go. Because they always look so stylish!

I don't know whether I have any appropriate hats any more. I know I haven't bought one since I lost my hair, and that was ten years ago.

May you have a gentle day.

    6. Bravo for independence. I am not driving so I am not sure what independence my future holds. When you can hold out for shopping more than one stop, that will be cause for celebration, too.

Wishing you the best on your secret physical therapy!
