· It’s World Cancer Day.
Coming as I do from a two disease family, alcoholism and cancer, I pay
attention to World Cancer Day. I’m sure
I told you before that both my mother and father had cancer. My father died of it. My best friend died of breast cancer as did
an awful lot of other friends. Please
get screened. Thanks.
· It’s also “I shouldn’t drive without coffee” day. I drove to Hillcrest for my yearly blood draw without coffee, breakfast, or meds. I survived, and so did everyone else. The Florida driver who changed lanes into me
should appreciate my highly honed, automatic braking reflexes. I did not give him the finger. I’m home and have had coffee and meds. Life moves on.
· Just for those out here on the West Coast of
America. It was 48 in Hillcrest this
morning and 52 here…..11.11111 to 8.88888….oh, Brrrr…
· It was fun working with the books yesterday. I think we have all the Star Trek books among the mountains of stuff. I brought home one that’s titled, “Catalog
Copy That Sizzles.” I had hopes that the
book might energize my imagination about the copy I write every day on
Facebook. Most days my copy lies limp,
but I’m trying for zip.
· The sun is out, and I am thinking of driving down to
the bay today camera in hand. You never
know what you will find tucked into a corner.
- Herself: He brought me yogurt. Yes, I am so spoiled, but so is he. Perhaps we spoil each other.
- Reading: A JA Jance new one to me.
- Gratitudes: That my coffeeless bad temper didn’t last long.
Every expedition here I find crazy drivers on the road. I think they are everywhere these days.
ReplyDeleteMy father's family was ravaged by cancer as well. It is a terrible disease which strikes fear in us all. We have to be proactive with our health as you suggest.
Spent the better part of today sorting seeds and miss the hours!!
ReplyDeleteGlad you're better and made it home ok. Lot of cancer here too, farming community, pesticides, fertilizers, suspicious of water, air, everything we eat. I'm not paranoid, not me.
ReplyDeleteYeah, those 50 degree temps can be cold! Those of us here in So Cal are now going for 70 to 80 degree temps -- not summer already, I hope! Snow lookin' good on Mt. Baldy and surrounding peaks. Better hope we get some more El Nino rain here and snow to build on No. Calif. mtn packs the rest of this month and March to combat our drought.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful picture. I can relate to your feeling the cold, as we had freezing in Texas the last two nights. I like it to be 70 or 80 during the day, but only climbing to 60 today.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, we do spoil one another -- who else would do that for us?? I tell Robert that I love taking care of him because I love him. Even though he smacked me a good one in the car -- I still love him!
ReplyDeleteAhh ... to hit 50 in February ...
ReplyDeletenothing worse than limp copy
ReplyDeleteEating helps too. Article today in the Washington Post or WaPo as its known here...about people who read books about the presidents. I'm working on it...slowly.
ReplyDeleteHow I miss that spoiling.
