Memorial Day 2016

George at his mom and dad’s marker on which the paint has worn off.  2016.

We are off to Fort Rosecrans.  We are off to an estate sale, to Costco, to have some relaxed time, and perhaps to get rid of some of the too many art works or too many pieces of silverware that are stored down in to bottom of the house.

Later this evening, I get to speak again to a group of 300+ recovering people.  I get one whole minute to have my say.  Get a sponsor, I’ll tell them, work the steps, brush your teeth, and something else I don’t remember, ah yes, don't think.  Maybe I will still remember what that last one is by seven o’clock tonight.

We shared the flowers between Dale and John and Ruby.  I try to stop by Dale's marker every once in a while as I think no one else does....then again, how would I know.  We bot some rib eye trimmings and a coffee grinder.  Neither of us like how the coffee we make tastes.  Like MUD isn't our preferred coffee.

  2. It's wonderful of you to help others recovering also. It's brave of you to speak in front of 300 people.

Have fun at the estate sale. I'm jealous although I really don't need anything else in the house.

    1. Yes, it was fun. I bought a little gold painted necklace for two dollars, and George didn't buy the Model A for 24 grand. We did good. LOL

    2. Oh my! George has such restraint--proud of him. You'll remember exactly what you need to say at your meeting. Reassurance that they can get through this and regain their lives is one of the messages you'll offer.

  3. If you find a good coffee brand, please let me know. I went back to Yuban dark roast and I've had to put cinnamon on top of the grounds to cut the bitterness. I'm going to go back to my flavored coffees--Don Jose's (CostCo) French Vanilla is good. Farmer's Brothers (if you can get it) is the best. I buy it at the distributor's warehouse when we're in AZ, and have bought their hot chocolate too -- excellent stuff.

    1. George switched to a Kurig, and he wants to use his own coffee in it. We end up with mud. Today he ground his new beans course, and we were less muddy. I miss the Mr. Coffee.

  6. Your weekend sounds very good. Many classic cars here this weekend. All polished and shining in the sunshine. Flags flying everywhere.

  7. Thanks for remembering those who get forgotten. I hate war and do not want to send our young and strong unless we are most sure there is no other choice. But even worse is what we do now, go half way. War is hell and the only ones who keep heaven here may be those we remember on memorial day.

  8. I'm thinking of my AA friends and how much I care about them. And wishing for the end of all wars.
As to coffee: The Nespresso has spoiled us for anything else.
    Best to you.

  10. One of my friends is always trying to scrounge coffee grounds for her garden so maybe your least preferred coffee will come into its own:)

Please, take just a moment to leave me a note. I really appreciate notes.
