Our great handyman,
George, and I decided the carpet on the back stairs had to go. We had called assorted companies to put new
carpet in, and tho we got quotes no one came.
The carpet was original with our purchase those many years ago. Although we have had it cleaned regularly,
and we wear no shoes in the house, the carpet was filthy. Really bad.
So the great G pulled it
and the padding out.
I need to take pictures to
show you how bad it was. Perhaps they
thought no owner would ever look at these stairs. Like one of our windows upstairs that was
held in with one drywall nail, this workmanship was of the same quality.
Each step was one to three
inches smaller than the surrounding wallboard.
Paint spattered, roughly cut, and randomly installed. A rough installation is putting it mildly.

- Himself: Power out much of the day. He started work yesterday at 4. They turned the power off at 9. We had fun running errands: first my glasses, Costco gas, lunch, phone, a new power protector as ours died when the power went, JCPennys, Cox for new boxes that also blew, and the grocery store.
- Myself: New phone, new glasses, and 2 new shirts. Now power here to study till late. Keeping Kay and her family in my thoughts.
- Reading: Still reading the “Rook” which is getting endless.
- Gratitude’s: For G.
That is a fabulous photo! A keeper!

ReplyDeleteIsn't it amazing what some carpet can hide. Glad you got your power back. We sure are dependent on it aren't we? Kay in my thoughts also.
ReplyDeleteI think we all know that shoddy workmanship, and our dismay on finding it.
ReplyDeleteWe have a plan to fix the stairs...........
