LABOR DAY WEEKEND

A mural on the side of the car carrier Jean Anne, 2010.

The sky is filled with grey clouds, and I am upstairs here hiding, writing this instead of studying.  I’ll get to that in just a while, but I must admit that I am slightly more comfortable with the nine-hundred thousand rules of driving now.  Yes, I have learned a lot in the last month.

George is learning a lot too.  He bought all new wood for the back stairs, and he is busily down in the garage giving it all a coat of paint….terra cotta.  About the same color as the original color of the carpet.  Tomorrow each will get cut to fit each unique space.  The staircase will look nice, and it will be very dramatic when it is done.

My two cousins are meeting after a long separation.  One lives in the Charlotte, and the other lives in Milwaukee.  Tom’s wife is now in a nursing home, and for the first time in years he is free to go south to see his sister Jerry.  They were very close when they were growing up, and they have truly missed each other.  They both have busy, energetic, creative grandchildren and kids.  It's a treat to call them family.

I’ve mustered all my paperwork for the new license.

I’ve survived a nasty loss of temper when the derm office called.  More to come off my leg which isn’t quite healed yet, and the insurance hasn’t approved the surgery.  I’m so spoiled…I wanted to go back in the pool so acted like a three year old.  (Pounding my feet on the floor, and telling folks what I was thinking of wearing compression stockings in 80’s heat while getting fat.)  LOL

  1. Yes, the stairs will be dramatic. The leg is going to be ok.

  2. It's perfectly OK to have the occasional temper tantrum. It's GOOD, even.
What a dramatic ship in your header.

  4. Ugh, compression stockings. Good to let some steam off Mage. We do seem to heal more slowly as we age but we do heal. Sending you some love.

  6. George is such a sweetheart. As I've said before and will say it again, "He's a keeper!" You can give him a hug and two thumbs up for me! So sorry about your leg. What a bummer. I have a friend here in Tehachapi that had the same issue with her leg -- it just would not heal. And as Celia said, we do heal slower as we age. Sending healing thoughts your way. It'll come ... just be patient!

  7. Ouch on your leg. I’m so sorry, Mage. That’s a bummer. It’s OK to blow off steam so you can greet the next challenge carefully.

  8. Stairs will look good! Frustrating for you with your leg so can understand your becoming upset. Hope the issues gets resolved err long. What's this DMV book for seniors? I did get a regular review book at AAA, so must get busy and study it, and make my appointment.
