LESS BOOKS

A reading corner by a window.

Dear George was really cranky when I delved into the vastly over-stuffed cubbyhole desk yesterday morning.  All those mountains of paid bills, years of paid bills, came out, and it was good to see those pounds of paperwork in a box.  Simple.  We kept six months of paid bills up here and the rest went down.

We stopped by the store to fix the one broken bookcase, and found she destroyed it…along with one of my lamps.  There was a definite lack of communication on both sides.  George remarked that. “I wouldn’t’ work for her.”  And neither do I now.

George wasn’t at all cranky with me for the rest of the day.

Lunch out, to buy rubber bands, shower, emails to my friends at work, and outta here to a meeting.  Sometimes things work out ok but slowly.
……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

  • Himself:  Friday: Movie “House with a clock in the wall.”  Cute.  He’s been very kind most of the weekend too.
  • Myself:  Enjoyed the flic, didn’t enjoy the store.  Woke at 4 thinking, and talked with J who also felt awful for months after getting canned.
  • Reading:  Still slowing reading V3 or the ER saga.  Almost to WWII.
  • Gratitude’s:  George, Joan, Jill, and the joy of a new pair of red shoes.

  1. I religiously dispose of the past year on the first day of a new year. What I don't need visits the shredder, and the rest is bundled and put on the shelf. Red Shoes! I have a new pair myself! Still unworn.

    1. I leave him in charge of these things, but the residue was mountainous. All gone now. I own a pair of red tennies and now red ballet flats. I feel in the lap of luxury.

    1. I usually wear black patent leather ballet flats, but sometimes red is just what the soul needs.

  4. This reminds me of the time I’d donated a large microwave to our school teacher’s lounge. When a new principal came in, she threw it out because she thought it didn’t work. It was just that the clock wasn’t set. Tsk. It was irritating, but sometimes, you have to let things go. She wasn’t everybody’s favorite principal.

    1. That's exactly the same feeling. I let go the six hours of hard physical labor with the mountain of books. This day was like the straw that broke the camels back. I had to walk away.

  5. So was she the boss of the charity? Now she is gone? No matter, you have survived. It is only "things" and carelessness is a trait that comes and goes in some. I am on the last two days of my med cycle and then we see if this worked. Still have the cough, but so much better. Maybe it is allergies?

  6. No, this is a pretty big charity, and she just managed this one thrift store. The next level up boss said he was sorry and I would be missed. I am gone. She is not. I'm doing really well. :)

My doctor told me that the meds I was taking would continue working for two weeks after the prescription ended. I am so sorry you caught the bug from hell. If it went away sometimes, and came back others,..then it would be allergies. Recent experience tells me that the books near the bed need dusting. LOL
