Most kids go to the mall
and buy whatever they want
But I'm over here happy with what I got
They can go into each store and buy what they want
But I'm over here happy with what I got
They all say it's never
enough that they need more and more of what they already got
But I'm over here happy with what I got
They lie
They cry
They complain
Just to get what they want
But I'm over here happy with what I got
They flaunt and brag about everything they have
And I am over here happy with what I got

ReplyDeleteWe are also happy with what we got!
ReplyDeleteCan't remember the last time I said "I want" that wasn't tied to a real need. Guess that comes with age. That 13 year old is older and wiser than her years.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wise young woman.
ReplyDeleteWell beyond her years. Right now she is doing the cooking and cleaning as her mom is in a cast from her surgery. She is of good value.
DeleteAmazing how the generations survive our mistakes. We need more voices like heres. Wise soul in a young body.
ReplyDeleteLet's all be happy with what we got.
ReplyDeletewell written poem.
ReplyDeletehave a great day
Beautiful poem. She takes after her grandmother!! Hugs and thanks for sharing. Tell her to keep writing -- she's good.
ReplyDeleteWonderful reminder!! It's becoming easier to be happy with what I've got as I get older.
ReplyDeleteSuch a great poem your young woman wrote. She knows who she is! Many adults don’t know that! Well done, Zoe.
