MAGAZINES

Zoe eating her cinnamon roll on a January weekend morning.

Wednesday  After arriving really late to the dentist’s office, I had a root pulled and stacks of magazines donated which filled the back seat of the car.

Daughter Margot works for the Cerebral Palsy organization up north.  It is a training and work facility.  Members do things like stuff envelopes and other acts requiring hand/eye coordination.  For practice, they have the students cut out things from magazines.  They are always short of magazines.  Zoe has a cold, so we will take the magazines up next weekend….after I remove my dentist’s name from every one.

Thursday:  Yes, I shelved the Art, Architecture, Sculpture, and Photography shelves as soon as I got there.  Then I worked my way down my isle through Poetry, Drama, Classics to Medical but did not do Diet.  Those endless books telling you how to exercise and eat less bother me.

Then I moved around the corner to the next isle over, and I went back to working with the Children’s books.  Everything I had worked so hard to alphabetize earlier looked really orderly but un-alphabetized.  I had to laugh.  Instead, the lady in charge of the kiddy lit had me tidying the ENDLESS SHELVES of Picture Books.   Picture books are those large format books both paperback and hard back.  They have few words but wonderful pictures.  She wanted all the books by type and size.  I got them all done.  Came home and ordered my Comic Con costume then went through my own cookbooks.

Friday:  If you want me this morning, you can find me down in the very cold garage tearing names and addresses from magazines.  I will try not to set too many aside to read.
