We snuck out last night to see the lights. I know…we are supposed to be locked down, but I am very glad we went. There were more houses with lights than we ever remember seeing before. Very uplifting these small displays. We weren’t out long, but we came home grinning.
Most all of one street, Newport Ave on the block above the business district, was decorated by one person. Tune to 59.5, or whatever it was, and the lights danced to the Christmas music. We parked at two different spots and watched the block long stretch of lights dance and sing to the music. Singing along ourselves for a while too.
Many houses had lights…even if it was just one string of lights. All over Point Loma and OB, lights blossomed in places we had never before see lights. In this time of Covid, this Holiday experience has been the most positive thing ever.

Just over from Cup on the Bus, and enjoyed your site. We lived in San Marcos for almost 30 years, have moved up to Murrieta area. We enjoyed many hours along the Point Loma area. I took classes on field trips to the lighthouse and the tide pools.
ReplyDeleteI'll be back.
We will make more forays out to see lights
ReplyDeleteI spent the better part of the day stringing lights in my trees outside. It does lift your spirits.
ReplyDeleteI always like looking at the lights myself.
ReplyDeleteI must take in some lights!
ReplyDeleteTake in?
DeleteWe also drove about looking at lights.
ReplyDeleteActually driving about looking at lights seems very safe and does wonders for the soul.
ReplyDeleteOnly the docks here. We are all woodland dwellers and the nly open space is on the river! I am glad you snuck out!!
ReplyDeleteWe picked up my Bernina from the shop yesterday, then went to JoAnn's in Palmdale to return some batting. Went to Wendy's drive thru for lunch then back through the drive thru for small frosties. 50-50 (half chocolate and half vanilla)--always a treat. We also purchased their $2 key ring cards for free frosty treats all year long in 2021. A great way to start the new year!
ReplyDeleteMy Bernina should go get cleaned. What a lovely time you both had.
DeleteI should think that even though you're on lock down, if you're in the car, shouldn't it be OK? I've noticed the neighbors putting up a lot more lights over here too.
