We did quite a few Christmas cruises. This photograph is from the Oosterdam which year we went I cannot remember. I’ve haphazardly saved all the Christmas photographs but cannot find the Oosterdam photos. Boy, we did party every December. The Automotive Museum and the Cancer Society Thrift store. Everyone dressed in their best having fun.
We did family gatherings. Year after year there are pictures of Duck and Dart. The children grow then go away. Grandkids grow even faster. There was one year that all but two of the 14 grandkids came to dinner.
I miss all the fuss. I do. I miss the friends that have moved away or died. In our new world all is quiet. The museum is closed. The store is open but I’m not there. The grandkids are in their own homes. Some, I know not where, and one in Spain. We will make it a kind year. Just us. Maybe a little Zoom with friends still with us. That ought to be delightful.

I’m doing the Obama book in bits as it is heavy to hold and take in.

Show.
Photo: Mine.
Gratitude’s: That I have all those wonderful photos to goo
through.
You play games that I do not know. YOu have friends that call and share. You are luckier than I, even though I have family close. They are obligated to call on Christmas and while I love them, I wonder why my friends are not as close?
ReplyDeleteI'm your friend.
DeleteOf course you are!!
Delete14 grandkids. wow. I have four and it's all I'll get. Thanksgiving was our big family get together as christmas only happened with half the family. it's always a quiet day here and I'm grateful I don't feel obligated to participate.
ReplyDeleteMy mother kept the family together. She's gone and so are gatherings. I think you and George are cut of her cloth. But you will enjoy the day as peace and quiet, too.
ReplyDeleteIt is ok to have a quiet Christmas.
ReplyDeleteTen grandkids plus the two spouses the older ones have. Close but no gathering this year. Maybe next Christmas. I have kind of enjoyed the peace. We stop in each other's driveways and drop off things and chat briefly. So lucky we are only 10 mintues apart.
ReplyDeleteI think most of us will have reduced Christmases this year.
ReplyDeleteThis was a loveely blog post
