HORROR STORY

The skies outside Las Vegas 2008.

Why?  We will never really know.

Like the 9/11 terrorist attacks, there will be radical groups claiming responsibility.  The airways will be filled with talking heads, pundits, and Tweets from our president.  Everyone will cry foul.  Several folks I read regularly will have something important to say.

All the news media are there.  The BBC has excellent but horrifying coverage.  “There was nowhere to go,” said one person who attended the concert.

One writer I know said: “Australians are people who enjoy their personal liberty as much as we do, and celebrate in individual choice. However, they were able to see the sense in passing universal gun control (at both the federal and state level), which has reduced the number of gun deaths by over 50% over the years.”

Gun stocks have risen today.  I have become a cynicist.

  • Himself:  Working hard.  Tried for an early morning Dr. appointment for his torn knee.
  • Herself:  It’s time to make those yearly appointments too.
  • Captain Poolie:  Boy she had visitors by the roomful yesterday.
  • Reading:  D.E. Stevenson.
  • Gratitude’s:  I was even grateful for owning a washer dryer this morning then I turned on the TV.  Right now I am grateful to be alive.  Daughter Margot posted wonderful Sister pictures on facebook today too.

  4. Just saw Sarah Huckabee's news briefing claiming this is not the time discuss gun control. It is the perfect time.

  5. Our news in Australia is full of it - a quiet man I heard him described as. My mother always said 'it's the quiet ones you have to be careful of'.
Oh and guns in all shapes and forms are slowly making their way back into the hands of those who shouldn't have them. ~ Cathy

  6. Oh I hope this stirs some action over gun control. I'd like someone to tell me how an automatic weapon is a sporting device. It is designed to do one thing--kill man. Now might be a good time to contact our law makers and let them hear our voices. I plan to.

  7. So sorry for this incident and for the yahoos and their guns and a government that has sold out to the gun lobby.

  8. I've heard that the NRA gives gazillion dollars to the Republican congressmen and next to nothing to the Democrats. That should explain a lot.
