We were both tired after
our day of socialization Saturday.
We did have tickets to the
new “Victoria and Abdul” matinee on Sunday, so I packed half a sandwich, and
off we went. It’s visually
stunning. It hits you powerfully with its
authentic scenery and costuming. The
colors are marvelous. The acting is
touching. But once is enough.
Again I dozed at the
computer when we got home. Just think
how much better I would have felt if I had gone to bed. Silly me.
Coffee is not the solution.
I have to confess that something
has gone wrong with the me that once loved to cook. My cooking hatred seems to have grown to a
truly idiotic level. Perhaps I am just
being reactive to the new dietary restrictions.
Combining three restrictive diets has brought me to a halt. I’m putting together a shopping list this
morning that hopefully will please all those restrictions yet fill my stomach
with some sense of joy.
Perhaps a takeout chicken? LOL

- Himself: The usual Monday work chaos acerbated by a doctor’s appointment at 10ish for his knee. Meeting.
- Herself: Pool and feeling younger, writing, shopping for groceries, hunting up day of the dead fabrics, reading, cooking, reading, and TV
- Reading: Skimmed on 70’s Stevenson that read really dated, reading another now that’s totally captivating.
- Captain Poolie: In and out of a car, and walked to and from her front door by herself.
- Gratitude’s: That right now life is being kind.
I vote for take out lol.
ReplyDeleteI burned the eggs this morning... :/ Was thinking that I was losing my ability to put a meal on the table without incident. Thankfully, I had more eggs. Then when I delivered Robert's breakfast plate to him, he told me he'd already had a bowl of cereal! Arrrgh! So much for sleeping in--it gets my schedule all messed up. We're waiting on a couple to arrive for an overnight visit--they're 'almost adopted' kids, and it's been ages since we saw them in person. I think take-out chicken is an excellent idea--might do that myself for dinner tonight! LOL
ReplyDeleteTake out chicken, salad, and fruit. :)
DeleteKFC ? Oh just occasionally it's like bloody nectar
ReplyDeleteYes, it is but not on those three ugly diets. LOL
DeleteVictoria and Abdul is on my must see list. Glad you liked it.
ReplyDeleteRestrictive diets really do take the fun out of cooking. I'm on a heart healthy one and like you, cooking has become a chore.
Take out chicken can be a good option! Lol.
ReplyDeleteI really don't like to cook either. I'm just glad mom enjoys it even though she cooks the same thing all the time.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see Victoria and Abdul too. I wonder if Art would be willing. He's been waiting for Blade Runner.
Victoria and Abdul is a visually stunning film. It just doesn't have any meat to it,. So far, Blade Runner is a man's film.
DeleteBy the way, we've been freezing left-over Costco or Sam's Club roasted chicken into little pouches. We then defrost them with a little Old Bay seasoning and really liking it every so often when I don't want to cook.
DeleteThanks, I will try that when we get home. :)
DeleteCooking just for myself is a chore, so I mostly endulge myself with freshly prepared healthy dinners, and a variety of other items that appeal to me. Chicken (not fried or battered) and salmon are favorites, too, with salads, fresh fruits.
ReplyDeleteI have been in a cooking slump as well, but fall usually motivates me for new ideas. Looking forward to down time. Family problem is continuing as I am sure you understand. The scary part is we seem to be more resigned and less motivated. I do want to see that movie, so maybe should check the theaters.
ReplyDeleteDinner will be "palatable"
ReplyDeleteNot long go I decided - as far as possible - I've done with cooking. Its liberating.
ReplyDeleteDecaf Coffee is especially not the solution. We went on a long drive and tour-about the other day, and were wishing that we hadn't ordered decaf.
