WORLD AIDS MONTH

This is the second Pandemic I’ve lived through in my lifetime.  The first one, AIDS, killed off many of my friends in the music and theater worlds.  So far, no one I know has died of Covid 19.  I have grandchildren who are gay.  I worry about them.  And I wonder if this seven month sickness I had was Covid 19.

  1. I have four gay grandchildren. All are adults now, and their safety mostly out of my hands. I hope I've done well.

  2. AIDS was/is devastating to you. Glad this one hasn't been so far.

  3. Some people forget that AIDS was a pandemic. So many were lost to that nightmare.

  4. I saw a story yesterday about a man who was hospitalized for almost two months with Covid. He was a senior with other health issues but he survived. This virus is mysterious in many ways.

  5. That’s so sad, Mage. I lost a good friend/classmate to AIDs too. I wrote a blog post about how he took a Polaroid photo of the two of us together at a reunion and then handed the photo to me with the words, “Remember me.” I thought it was a weird thing to say. I think I said something like, “Of course, I’ll remember you.” And of course, I haven’t forgotten and never will.

This is such a scary time. I’m glad George is taking good care of you.
